Threading the Ring Sling: Put sling flat on floor or hold in hand. Bring the end of tail through both rings, pass over the 1st ring and thread through the 2nd ring. Make sure the sling does not twist. When you put the sling on, the fabric should be flat and smooth against your back.
Place your sling on with the tail hanging down. Bring baby high on your shoulder and lower him into the sling: tummy against your tummy. While holding baby with one hand, use the free hand to pull the fabric under his bottom and around the knees. Baby should be sitting in the fabric like he is sitting in a chair: knees higher than his bottom.
Loosen your sling by pulling up on the bottom ring so the fabric gives some slack. Lower baby into the pouch of the sling for a cradle or nursing position. Cuddle up!
Spread the fabric to make a pouch for baby to be in. Hold baby while he is facing out and criss-cross his legs like a pretzel. Lower him into the sling, making sure there is fabric in front and behind his body.
Lower baby into the sling as you would the tummy to tummy position. For the hip position, slide baby and sling with their legs on each side of your hip, making sure his knees are above his bottom - like sitting in a chair. This is a very common way to hold a baby that can sit by himself.
This is a good position for parents who feel very comfortable using their sling. Begin in the hip carry position with the rings high on the shoulder. Slide both baby and the sling around to the back, bouncing a little to get into position. Bring fabric over baby's shoulders for extra stability.
Fold sling in half, edge to edge to make a tube. Put the folded edge over your head and rest it on your opposite shoulder. The curved end should be down by your hip. The open side of the tube should be facing up. Make sure the sling is flat & smooth around your back, not twisted.
Put sling on and place baby high on shoulder supporting her bottom. Slide baby down into pouch while always keeping a hand on the baby, bouncing a little to get her into position. Pull fabric under baby's bottom & backs of her knees, like she is sitting in a chair. Baby should be between both layers of fabric and her spine should align the seam of the pouch. Once the baby is positioned in the sling, adjust the length by folding the top layer down over your shoulder (this is a good technique to use in any position to get baby closer to you). Snuggle up!
Start from the front position and lower baby's body and head into sling into a horizontal position. Cradle baby's head with the side of the pouch.
Put the sling on. The seam should be at the center of your body. Hold baby up high on your chest. Find pouch opening and cross baby's legs in front of her like a pretzel. Lower baby's bottom into sling and bounce her a little to get into position. The seam should be in front of her as her back is resting against you.
Baby stays in place as you slide the sling around you, making sure baby's bottom aligns the curved seam of the pouch.
Cotton Slings: wash on cold in a gentle cycle and it is best to line dry. You may tumble dry on low if you would like the sling to shrink a little. Silk Slings: Hand wash silk slings or use a delicate cycle and line dry.
